Pingüinos

A nine-hour bus ride and border crossing later, we finally made it to Punta Arenas, Chile. Honestly, the town itself is pretty skippable, a one-day stopover at most. We partially chose it to break up our long bus trips north through Patagonia.

And...also for the penguins. Magdalena Island, about 90 minutes from Punta Arenas in the Straight of Magellan, is home to over 100,000 penguins. Can’t come this far south and not see penguins. Some GoPro fun below.

We went with the reliable Solo Expediciones (thanks Trisha!). Efficient tour operator to the islands (bus + boat transportation) with knowledgeable English explanations and pisco-spiked hot chocolate on board.
